JAKARTA |Nusantara Jaya News — Indonesia’s Kompeten Akademi Muda Indonesia has earned international recognition from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) for its contribution to sustainable energy capacity building, reinforcing Indonesia’s growing role in advancing global sustainable development.
The recognition was granted following the successful completion of the “Awareness and Capacity Building for SDG 7 Localisation” programme, a UN ESCAP self-paced course designed to strengthen institutional readiness and local implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. As a result, Kompeten Akademi Muda Indonesia has been officially acknowledged as a Member of United Nations ESCAP 2026, under Certificate No. 4340599.
The programme covers a comprehensive framework for SDG 7 localisation, including Agenda 2030 alignment, enabling institutional environments, data monitoring, stakeholder engagement, budgeting and financing, capacity building, implementation strategies, and linkages between SDG 7 and other SDGs. Through this achievement, Kompeten Akademi Muda Indonesia demonstrated its institutional capacity to translate global sustainability goals into impactful local action.
The recognition was delivered by Prof. Dr. Drs. H. Agusdin, S.E., M.M., Ph.D, Representative of UN ESCAP – The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, who highlighted the importance of strengthening local institutions as key drivers of sustainable energy transitions in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Local institutions play a critical role in accelerating the achievement of SDG 7. The recognition of Kompeten Akademi Muda Indonesia reflects its commitment and capability to support sustainable energy development through education, capacity building, and stakeholder collaboration,” he stated.
Dr. (C) Ivan Suaidi, S.Sos., M.M., Director of Kompeten Akademi Muda Indonesia, described the recognition as both an honour and a responsibility.
“This recognition from UN ESCAP affirms that Indonesian institutions can actively contribute to the global sustainable development agenda. We are committed to advancing SDG 7 through practical training, policy awareness, and inclusive capacity-building initiatives that deliver tangible impact at the community level,” he said.
With its new status as a Member of UN ESCAP 2026, Kompeten Akademi Muda Indonesia aims to expand international collaboration, strengthen sustainable energy education programmes, and support local governments, communities, and stakeholders in implementing clean and affordable energy solutions.
This milestone marks a significant step for Indonesia’s vocational and capacity-building institutions in aligning local action with global sustainability goals, while reinforcing the country’s presence on the international development stage. (AH)
